Welcome New Students!

What to Expect in The First Weeks of School: September 4-13, 2025

We are so excited that you will be joining us at LCS this fall! Preparations are well underway to welcome you to the school, and to help you feel at home at The Grove.

No doubt you have questions about the first few weeks of school. On this page, you will find information about the activities you will be engaged in in September.

We’ve designed these activities to help you get to know LCS and feel at home within our community. You’ll have time to get to know your housemates, residential staff, advisor, teachers and classmates, as well as time to become better acquainted with the broader Lakefield and Peterborough communities.

Arrival Day

List of 1 items.

  • Thursday, September 4

We look forward to welcoming you on campus on Thursday, September 4.
    • Your Head of House will be in touch with you to arrange an arrival time.
    • If you are a new boarding student, your arrival time will be scheduled between 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.
    • If you are a new day student, between 10:30 - 11:00 p.m.
Our Grads (Grade 12 students) will be on campus to welcome you and help you find your way to your house where you will meet your new Head of House and Advisor. You’ll have time to unpack (if you’re a boarder), get your class schedule and your laptop (if you have ordered one from the school), and sort out your school uniform.

Once all of that is complete, you and your parents will have the chance to meet with your Head of House and other new families before you say goodbye to each other. You will then get together with the Grads and other new students in your house to get to know each other and explore your new home. There will be time in the evening to more fully unpack, learn your way around campus, and begin to make new friends.

Our hope is that by the end of the day, you will begin to feel at home at The Grove.

Dress expectations: clean casuals, comfortable shoes

    Handy items to have:
    water bottle, hat

Day Bus Schedule: No morning bus as students will arrive with their parents at their assigned time. Students may choose to take the bus home in the evening. The bus will depart from the LCS Bus Turnaround at 8:30 p.m.

    Important Note for Arrival Time:
Students are strongly encouraged to plan travel that allows them to arrive on campus during the identified timeframe on their dedicated arrival day. We understand that flight schedules may present challenges and that siblings coming from outside of Ontario may wish to travel together. If (off-campus) early arrival support is required, please contact Jen Horrigan for more details.

Feeling at HOME in your CLASSES

List of 1 items.

  • Monday, September 15

Monday, Sept 15 will be a full day of Mod 1 Classes, Chapel and Monday Full-Year Clubs.

Feeling at HOME in our COMMUNITY

List of 1 items.

To allow you to be fully present and engaged with those around you during these experiences, we will be limiting cell phone usage. We will ensure that lots of photos are taken and made available. This will also be communicated to your parents ahead of time so that they are not expecting communication from you during the day. You may want to let your friends from home know this as well.

At the end of these two weeks, it is our hope that you feel at home within our community and ready to dive into learning and life at The Grove!
