Blessing of the Animals and Thanksgiving Service at LCS
On Tuesday, October 6, students and staff gathered for LCS’s annual Blessing of the Animals and Thanksgiving Service, a special tradition that brings gratitude, reflection and a little extra joy to life at the School.
Following their Harvest Dinner, community members brought their animal companions to Chapel for an evening service led by Reverend John Runza in celebration of the Feast of Saint Francis, known for his love of animals and the natural world. Dogs and cats joined the gathering, alongside an iguana, a turtle and plenty of well-loved stuffed animals, each taking part in this much-loved tradition.
The service offered an opportunity for students and staff to pause in the midst of a busy school year, reflect on the connections that enrich their lives and give thanks for the animals that bring companionship, comfort and joy. It was also a reminder of the care and appreciation we can extend to the living things around us.
Through traditions like the Blessing of the Animals, LCS creates space for shared moments of gratitude and connection, bringing people together and celebrating the experiences that make life at the School meaningful.
