Where the Land Connects Us

Our Northcote Campus and Farm is more than an outdoor classroom—it’s nature at its best: 155 acres of learning farm, forest trails, fields, and waterfront that bring people together through care, purpose, and discovery.

Northcote is where sustainability and wellbeing take root in everyday life. Students, staff, families, and local groups gather here to live the values that define Lakefield—caring for the land, for one another, and for the world beyond our gates.

Together, we plant and harvest food, share it with our community, and see the impact of our efforts ripple outward. Every visit—whether through classes, hands-on projects, co-curricular clubs, or house and community events—cultivates an appreciation for nature and a deeper sense of belonging.

Here, students feel grounded, inspired, and part of something lasting.

Wellbeing and Stewardship

Time at Northcote restores balance and strengthens connection—to self, to others, and to nature.

It’s a place where our students and community breathe deeply, slow down, and experience the vitality that comes from purposeful work and play in the outdoors.

Living in Community

At Northcote, daily life takes shape through shared effort. Students harvest food, cook, and share house dinners beneath the barn rafters; gather by the water after paddling from the main campus; and celebrate the seasons through Fall Fair, Winter Carnival, and sleigh rides that keep LCS traditions alive.

Learning Through The Land

Northcote is our living classroom—an environment that nurtures both mind and heart. Six sections of Green Industries (Grades 10 and 11) connect forestry, floristry, agriculture, landscaping, and horticulture in an applied setting, while Outdoor Education (Grades 9–12) and the school’s Outdoors Every Day philosophy link environmental science and wilderness adventure with daily life. Each season reveals new lessons.

Caring for the Land

Here, caring for the land becomes a way of life. Students and staff take part in preservation studies, conservation projects, and partnerships that connect Northcote to the wider world.

As a living bridge between Lakefield College School and our broader community, Northcote fosters collaboration, service, and shared research that help students see how stewardship and citizenship are deeply connected.

The story of Northcote is still being written. Continue exploring how learning, wellbeing, and stewardship come to life—across our campus, in our classrooms, and within our community.
