Adventure is How We Learn
At Lakefield, outdoor and experiential adventures are at the heart of learning done differently.
Building on the foundation of our Outdoor Education, Green Industries, and Northcote Campus and Farm programs, students continue learning through experiences that take them beyond the familiar—from local expeditions and wilderness journeys to international exchanges, cultural immersion, and global service.
Whether close to campus or across the world, every adventure is designed to build confidence, resilience, curiosity, and a deeper understanding of both ourselves and the communities around us. These experiences are central to our Outdoors Every Day philosophy—where nature is both our classroom and our compass.

A Journey of Growth and Discovery
From first adventures close to home to unforgettable experiences across Canada and around the world, each stage invites students to challenge themselves, build confidence, and discover what's possible.
Lakefield’s Signature Expeditions
Our three hallmark expeditions challenge students to explore remote landscapes and their own leadership potential.
Each journey becomes a rite of passage; testing endurance and inspiring confidence. A tradition generously supported by Lakefield alumni and families.

GEO Expedition Ontario (Grades 9–10)
Remote canoe and hiking expeditions that build outdoor skills, teamwork, and confidence close to home. Students paddle the lakes and rivers of Ontario’s north, navigating portages and discovery with every stroke.
Irving Expedition (Grades 11–12)
A legacy of leadership and endurance—students paddle the wild rivers of the Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut, navigating whitewater, wildlife, and teamwork under the northern sky. Supported by full- time specialized LCS Staff and alumni leaders.
Ondaatje Expedition (Grades 11–12)
International adventures to destinations like Iceland, Nepal, or Tanzania. Students hike into highland villages and cross glacial valleys, learning humility, interdependence, and the meaning of global citizenship.
Adventure by the Numbers | Each year, hundreds of students take their learning beyond the classroom through unforgettable journeys across Canada and around the world. |
