Celebrating the Class of 2026: A World of Possibilities Awaits

As the school year draws to a close, Lakefield College School is proud to celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2026 and the exciting, diverse journeys that lie ahead for every single one of our graduates.

This year's graduating class is defined by an exceptional willingness to chart their own courses. Whether staying close to home, crossing borders, or choosing alternative pathways, our students have approached their futures with purpose, curiosity, and confidence.

A Landmark Year for Admissions

The collective hard work of this cohort has resulted in an incredible milestone, with our graduates receiving nearly 800 offers of admission from institutions across Canada and around the world.

Exploring a World of Disciplines

Rather than following a single mold, the Class of 2026 is splitting into an astonishing array of fields. Their choices highlight a desire to bridge complex ideas, tackle global challenges, and master diverse industries. This year's academic paths fall into several exciting themes:

  • Engineering & Advanced Sciences: Our graduates are stepping into the future through heavy quantitative and technical tracks, including Engineering Science, Chemical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Computer Sciences, alongside foundational discoveries in Physics, Biochemistry, and Mathematical Sciences.

  • Business, Economics & Global Leadership: A massive cohort is preparing to lead global industries, entering premier programs in Commerce, Corporate Management, International Economics, Maritime Business, Marketing, and specialized, interdisciplinary programs like Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) or Integrated Business and Humanities.

  • Health, Wellness & Life Sciences: Driven by a passion for understanding the living world and helping others, students are entering highly competitive Direct-Entry Medicine, Health Sciences, Life Sciences, Psychology, Biomedical Science, Kinesiology, and Medical Laboratory Science.

  • The Natural World & Sustainability: Our connection to the environment shines through in students choosing paths dedicated to the planet's future, including Environmental Science, Agriculture, Forestry, and Plant Sciences.

Shaping Futures: Where They Are Headed

Our students' academic currency carries immense weight, allowing them to choose right-fit environments that span premier post-secondary institutions around the world. Rather than following a single path, the Class of 2026 has distributed their talents widely across various post-secondary institutions, major research hubs, and specialized academies.

Anchored Across Canada

The majority of our graduates will continue their academic journeys within Canada, choosing vibrant metropolitan research hubs and premier undergraduate campuses from coast to coast.

  • Ontario Destinations: A robust cohort is staying in the province, with large groups heading to the University of Toronto (18) and Queen’s University (14), alongside others anchoring their next steps at McMaster, Guelph, Wilfrid Laurier, Western (including the Ivey School of Business), Waterloo, Carleton, McGill, Concordia, Brock, Huron, Lakehead, Ontario Tech, Toronto Metropolitan and Trent.

  • Coast-to-Coast Horizons: Showing their adventurous spirit, many graduates are stretching beyond provincial borders. This includes students heading West to premier institutions like the University of British Columbia (8) and the University of Victoria, as well as those heading East to coastal maritime anchors like Dalhousie University (8), Acadia University, and the University of King’s College.

Global and International Classrooms

With a deeply ingrained global mindset, a dynamic group of graduates will be taking their next academic steps on the world stage.

  • The United States: Navigating a highly selective market, 9 of our graduates will pursue placements at premier American environments, including Duke University, UCLA, UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara, Washington University in St. Louis, Lynn, Northeastern, and Boston University.

  • International & UK Campuses: Several graduates are preparing to join diverse global classrooms around the world. 8 students are heading to renowned global campuses like IE University and Comillas in Spain, Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome in Italy, ESCP in France, Sophia University in Japan, and Peking University in China. An additional 12 students are heading to elite UK institutions such as Imperial College London, King's College London, Edinburgh, Bristol, City St. George's, Durham, Exeter, Southampton Solent, and University of the Arts London

Celebrating Every Pathway

At Lakefield, we measure success not just by an acceptance letter, but by a student's confidence to pursue what truly fulfills them. Reflecting genuine curiosity, some of our graduates are choosing to take an intentional gap year. These students are taking time to gain invaluable real-world experience, focus on personal growth, and dedicate themselves to specific passions - such as competitive equestrian riding or returning home to prepare for military service.

Exceptional Merit Recognition

The collective excellence of the Class of 2026 was also recognized financially, with the cohort earning more than $2.5 million in merit-based scholarships and awards. Among these,10 students received substantial individual packages valued at over $50,000 CAD - tributes not only to their academic marks, but to their leadership, character, and deep contributions to community.

Whether their next steps take them down the road or across an ocean, and whether their plans are fully locked in or beautifully evolving, every single member of the Class of 2026 leaves a lasting legacy at The Grove. We are incredibly proud of them all, and we wish them a world of success!
