Grad Leadership Conference Sets the Tone for 2026/27

The 2026/27 school year began with an important LCS tradition: the Grad Leadership Conference. Over two days, our Grade 12 students came together to reflect on what it means to be a senior at Lakefield College School and the responsibility that comes with leading and mentoring others.

Through workshops, team-building activities and time for reflection, Grads explored the qualities that shape meaningful leadership, from empathy and trust to collaboration, inclusion and a willingness to listen. The experience gave students an opportunity to build connections with one another while thinking about the kind of leaders they want to be throughout their final year at LCS.

A key part of the conference was the Senior Student Leadership Model, or Seniors in Charge (SICs), which gives every Grad the opportunity to take on a meaningful leadership role. Whether supporting younger students, building House spirit, welcoming new members of the community or helping shape student life, each Grad has a part to play in making LCS a stronger, more connected place.

The conference continued into the evening with a formal dinner in Hepburn Hall, followed by the traditional Opening Chapel service. During the candlelight ceremony, Co-Heads of School Teddy and Sadie lit their candles first, passing the light from one student to another until the entire group was connected. The moment offered a powerful reminder that leadership at LCS is not something students take on alone; it is built through relationships, shared responsibility and looking out for one another.

As our Grads step into their final year, they carry with them not only the expectations of senior leadership, but also the opportunity to make a lasting contribution to the LCS community. We look forward to seeing how they lead, support and inspire those around them throughout the year.
