Grade 11 Intersession: Preparing, Connecting and Leading

For our Grade 11s, Intersession offered a chance to step into the year with intention, building practical skills, strengthening relationships and spending time together before regular classes begin.

The week started close to home with a focus on the year ahead. Students took part in an LCV and values discussion, learning more about opportunities for leadership and involvement through Duke of Edinburgh, GSS, Grade Representatives and House Leadership. They also got organized with their new LCS planners during a workshop focused on making the most of this new tool for the year ahead.

Students then turned their attention to practical skills and community care. Sessions on cybersecurity and guidance gave them useful tools for navigating life at LCS, while a Consent and Care workshop created space for important conversations about relationships, respect and looking out for one another.

Monday and Tuesday also made plenty of room for something just as important: connection. At Camp Lakefield, students spent the afternoon swimming, playing beach volleyball, spikeball, soccer and Frisbee, fishing, making bracelets and gathering around the campfire for s’mores.

From Wednesday through Friday, the grade headed to Camp Kandalore, where they continued building connections through outdoor activities, shared experiences and time away from the usual routines of campus.

For Grade 11, Intersession is about more than getting ready for another school year. It’s a chance to think about the kind of community they want to help create, the leaders they want to become and how they can make the most of the year ahead.
