Honouring Tradition at the Opening Grad Chapel

The Class of 2027 gathered this week for one of the most meaningful traditions of the Grad year at Lakefield College School: Opening Grad Chapel. Held in the A.W. Mackenzie Chapel, the evening marked the beginning of their final year together and invited students to reflect on the role they will play as leaders and mentors in the LCS community.

Through music, reflection and words from Head of School Anne-Marie Kee, Grads were encouraged to consider the opportunities that come with being senior students, as well as the responsibility to lead by example and help shape the experience of those who follow.

The evening culminated in the traditional candlelight ceremony. Co-Heads of School Teddy and Sadie lit their candles first, then passed the light from student to student until every Grad held a candle. More than a beautiful moment, the ceremony represents the connections that bind each graduating class to those who came before and the responsibility of carrying the spirit of LCS forward.

As the Class of 2027 begins this milestone year, they have an opportunity to leave their own mark on the school community while creating memories and traditions that will become part of their own LCS story. We look forward to seeing how they lead, support and inspire one another in the year ahead.
