Global Learning Trips and Expeditions 2026/27
Each year, Lakefield College School students have the opportunity to apply for transformative Global Learning trips and expeditions that combine cultural immersion, service learning, and adventure. Whether trekking through the rainforests of Costa Rica, exploring the vibrant landscapes of Ecuador and Colombia, engaging with local communities in the hills of northern Thailand, or participating in conservation initiatives in Kenya, these experiences encourage students to step outside their comfort zones and broaden their global perspectives.

Irving Expedition (2027)

Paddling the Keele River is a world-class adventure. Its turquoise waters wind their way 310 km through the towering Mackenzie Mountains and some of the most remote and pristine wilderness left on the planet. The river is fast but fun and friendly, with exciting but manageable whitewater and no portages. Jaw-dropping spectacular scenery, superb fishing, hiking opportunities and excellent wildlife viewing make this trip one of LCS’ favourite mountain rivers. The Keele River is suitable for novice to intermediate paddlers, but more skilled paddlers will still have lots to enjoy!

GEO Expedition: Georgian Bay (2027)

From the white quartzite cliffs of Killarney to the quiet channels of Bayfield Inlet, this expedition offers an unforgettable journey through the windswept islands and clear waters of Georgian Bay. As you paddle between remote wilderness campsites, you’ll deepen your connection with the land and develop essential kayaking, safety, and backcountry skills. This trip is designed for beginner to intermediate paddlers and offers daily opportunities for hands-on learning, leadership, and personal growth in one of Ontario’s most iconic natural landscapes. More than just a paddling adventure, this GEO experience invites you to slow down, explore with curiosity, and embrace the magic of the Canadian Shield.
