Grad Leadership Conference

We look forward to welcoming our Grade 12 students (LCS Grads) on Tuesday, September 8 for the start of their year! As well as being part of the team to welcome both new and returning students during our Opening Week, LCS Grads will participate in their Grad Leadership Conference creating the leadership foundation for the year.
All of our grade 12 students attend a Leadership Conference at the school in the fall prior to the beginning of their final year. This is a chance to spend some time together as a grade, and with the staff, before the rest of our students arrive. Our Grade 12 students are involved in a wide variety of experiences that continue to work on both the general principles of effective leadership and the practical application of these to school life. The graduating class develops a set of principles and from there, a series of goals for the year. They draw from these principles when faced with opportunities or challenging decisions that might arise during the school year. Ongoing discussions throughout the fall allow students to reflect on their experiences both personally, in their respective Senior-in-Charge (SIC) positions, and as a grade.
Goals for the conference include:
Helping LCS Grads feel settled and at home.
Ensure LCS Grads are comfortable with their leadership roles and concepts such as shared leadership.
Providing time to think critically about what it will take for this year's graduating class to inspire student engagement and things they can do on campus and remotely to foster a sense of belonging for all.
Above all else, this conference will reinforce the uniqueness of each member of the Grad Class and the powerful benefits their diversity of perspective and experience brings to their combined efforts to connect with all students in their roles as the senior leaders in our community. Engaged in workshops and activities designed to hone their individual and collective leadership skills
