Since its inception, the school's programming has been rooted in its mission: "To challenge and enable students to reach their individual potential in mind, body and spirit." While we've always been an "Outdoors Every Day" school, this year has presented the opportunity to use our beautiful, natural environment to its fullest.
Under the autumn canopy of the forest with a blanket of red, gold and orange leaves covering the ground, the Yoga co-curricular group met in their outdoor studio using the trees as props to practice. Part of their time together always includes a meditation walk, walking into and then out of the forest with no screens and no talking. This practice encourages our students to open their senses and to focus on deep breathing.
The well-being of our students is paramount. Using our campus as our outdoor classroom helps students to connect their body, mind and spirit and to know healthy habits and practices so well that they can create great environments no matter where they find themselves.
