What Lakefield College School Students are Reading This Summer | LCS Reads Summer 2023

Two summers ago, we keenly introduced LCS Reads Student Edition—an exciting initiative to keep our students engaged in learning throughout the summer.

At Lakefield College School, reading is not just a hobby; it's a vital skill on the path to becoming lifelong learners. It nurtures the "6 C's" of the Future-Ready Learner: creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, citizenship, character, and communication. We read to gain different perspectives, develop empathy, and broaden our understanding of the world. Reading reduces stress, brings us joy, and allows us to escape into our thoughts. Above all, reading makes us better readers.

With the student edition of LCS Reads, our goal is to ignite a passion for reading among our students. We recognize our community's diverse interests, so we offer each grade level multiple book choices, ensuring everyone can enjoy reading. Through these books, our students will embark on journeys of self-discovery, explore the world, and develop a deeper understanding of others. When they return to school in September, these shared reading experiences will spark lively and engaging discussions.
