At LCS, we believe that transformative experiences are essential for personal growth and occur when our students' ways of thinking are being positively challenged through new experiences, the acquisition of knowledge and the time to reflect.

  • Process to Apply

    In order to qualify for an Academic Award of Distinction, we ask you:
    • Complete the LCS admissions process
    • Write an email and/or record a video (admissions@lcs.on.ca), addressed to the Awards of Distinction Committee, indicating your interest in being considered for this award and identify what makes you a strong candidate (Limit: 650 words and/or two-minutes)
    • Submit a letter of reference from an academic teacher outlining your success within a classroom setting. References are also asked to comment on how you demonstrate any or all of the following: responsibility, organization, independence, initiative, teamwork, self-regulation (Limit: 650 words)
    • Submit your SSAT Character Skills Snapshot assessment results
    • Demonstrate academic success by obtaining a minimum overall academic average of 85% (or equivalent) and meeting or exceeding the 60th percentile on the SSAT
  • Criteria for Renewal

    The Academic Award of Distinction may be renewed annually, provided that families complete the Apple Financial Services application and financial need is demonstrated. Additionally, applicants must:
    • Maintain an academic average of 85% or above
    • Have no academic failures
    • Maintain a standard of good behavior and citizenship

Lakefield College School is a private, coeducational boarding and day school for students in grades 9 through 12, located in Lakefield, Ontario, Canada.
