AI is transforming education—but our humanity must lead the way. The LCS Summer AI Institute brings together teachers, school leaders, and operations professionals for a collaborative experience centred on one question: How do we integrate AI in ways that strengthen human connection, creativity, and meaningful learning?

This Isn't Just Another Conference

The LCS Summer AI Institute is a collaborative workshop where educators connect, share, and learn together. We believe AI should amplify the human elements that make education meaningful—not replace them. You'll explore practical applications alongside peers who share your challenges and commitment to human-centred learning.

Set within a picturesque natural environment, this three-day conference offers the space to step back, think creatively, and engage in the kind of deep, human-centred discussions that make AI integration purposeful and lasting.

Who Should Attend

We invite schools to send a cross-functional team (e.g., teachers, division heads, IT directors, admissions officers, marketing communications and operations leaders). We believe the most effective AI implementation happens when the whole school learns collectively.

What to Expect

  • Keynote Presentation: Hear from our expert facilitator, Eric Hudson, on The Skills That Matter and what he is learning about AI through his ongoing work with students, teachers and school leaders.
  • Role-Specific Peer Sessions: Participate in facilitated, role-specific conversations. These sessions are designed to connect peers in similar roles to share challenges, strategies, and solutions tailored to their specific context.
  • Micro-Talks: A conference highlight! These sessions are designed to learn directly from our participants, featuring short presentations where participants share innovative AI work happening within their own schools.
  • Hands-On Workshops: Dive deep into practical sessions that will equip you with the tools to implement AI projects right away.
  • Dedicated Team Time: Work alongside your school team to synthesize new ideas and develop actionable strategies to take back to your institution.

Featured Speaker: Eric Hudson

We’re excited to welcome facilitator Eric Hudson back for our 2026 institute!

Eric Hudson is an educator, consultant, and thought leader in human-centred AI integration in schools. His work focuses on equipping teachers and school leaders with sustainable, strategic, and ethical approaches to artificial intelligence – ensuring that AI serves as a tool for augmentation, not automation.

Through his research and professional learning workshops, Eric empowers educators to think critically about AI's role in learning. He creates a space where both academic and operational leaders can explore how "The Skills That Matter" (Extending the Mind, Information Literacy, Playfulness, Meaning Making, and Ethical Decision-Making) apply to their unique contexts.

Frequently Asked Questions

List of 6 items.

  • What is the daily schedule?

The institute runs from Tuesday evening (6:00 pm arrival and welcome reception) through Friday at noon. Full days begin with breakfast at 8:00 am and include a mix of keynotes, role-specific sessions, micro-talks, hands-on workshops, and dedicated team time. Sessions typically run until 4:30-5:30 pm, with breaks throughout the day and optional evening receptions by the waterfront. You'll find a balance of structured learning, collaborative work time, and opportunities for informal connection with peers.
  • Can I attend without staying on campus?

Yes, you're welcome to commute if you prefer. However, the registration fee remains the same whether you stay on campus or not. We've designed an all-inclusive pricing model to keep costs accessible for everyone, covering facilitation, meals, and accommodations as a package. Many participants find value in staying on campus for the full immersive experience and spontaneous conversations that happen between sessions.
  • What if I’m attending solo?

Solo attendees are absolutely welcome! Last year, we had four individual participants who had a great experience. During designated team time, solo attendees can connect with other individuals, work on personal projects, or engage in one-on-one conversations with our facilitation team. All other sessions, keynotes, role-specific discussions, micro-talks, and workshops are designed for full participation regardless of whether you attend with a team. That said, we encourage bringing a team so multiple voices can carry your learnings back to your school community.
  • Is there a limit on team size?

There is no maximum team size. What matters most is bringing diverse perspectives from your school. For teams larger than five people, we recommend including representatives from different roles—such as classroom teachers, program leaders, and operations staff—to ensure a range of voices and expertise that can support comprehensive AI integration across your institution.
  • I would like to register a team, but I have not yet identified each individual. What should I do?

Our registration system has been designed with this in mind. You can register a team without providing specific names at the time of registration. It would be helpful for our planning if you indicate the intended roles of attendees from your school (e.g., two classroom teachers, one IT director, one division head) and provide a date when we should follow up for specific participant information.
  • What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that circumstances may change, and we want to make this process as straightforward as possible.
    • Cancel up to 30 days before the event for a full refund minus a small processing fee.
    • Need to change who attends? Substitutions from your school are always welcome at no additional cost.
    • Cancellations made within 30 days of the start date will incur a 50% fee. We will waive this fee if we successfully fill your space with a registrant from another school.
    • Please contact Joe McRae at jmcrae@lcs.on.ca with any cancellation requests or questions.
