Harvest Dinner 2025 Reflections

On Friday September 26, we celebrated 5-years since the launch of our Farm at Northcote. To mark this important milestone, we gathered to give thanks to the generosity of our incredible community of supporters, past and present, who have made Northcote possible. The evening was filled with stories about current impact, important history, personal memories, and the exciting future of Northcote.

We are deeply grateful to the many families, friends, and partners whose support and participation make the learning that happens at Northcote so meaningful.

We heard directly from many of our community partners, who reflected on the impact of the Farm, from harvest donations to meaningful visits with their members. We had representatives who joined us from: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peterborough; New Canadians Centre; Canadian Mental Health Association of Haliburton, Kawartha, and Pine Ridge; Kawartha Land Trust; Lakefield Community Food Bank; and the Community Table at Lakefield United Church.

We were pleased to welcome local Mayor Heather Watson, along with more than 40 school and foundation trustees and board members. We also had an opportunity to directly thank our Farm team, whose dedication ensures the Farm’s success and brings meaningful outdoor learning to our students year-round:: Bruce McMahon, Janice Greenshields, Garret Hart, Hayden Canning, Jade O’Keeffe, and Emma MacDonald. They’re the members of our staff who bring the magic to Northcote.

Northcote has a rich history with so much to offer our students and community - now, and in years to come. As we look to the future, our hope is that students continue to leave Northcote feeling a deeper connection and responsibility to nature and to the environment, continue to strengthen the wellbeing of our community.. Here’s to 5-years, and many more!
