On February 27, 2026, Grade 10 art students had the opportunity to meet Paul Nabuurs, a professional artist based in Peterborough County. Paul shared insights about being a working artist and encouraged students to observe the natural world closely, cast aside inhibitions, and embrace the balance between freedom and intention in their creative work. He offered practical tips that the students could apply to their winter landscape paintings, inspiring them to experiment and explore their artistic voices.
About Paul Nabuurs: Paul is known for his bold, energetic paintings that capture the interplay of light, color, and patterns in both landscapes and city scenes. His work offers a fresh perspective on Canadian identity and invites viewers to pause and absorb a moment in time. After attending O.C.A.D., Paul focused on family and other ventures before returning full-time to his art, honing a distinctive style that has earned him a growing audience. He has exhibited widely in solo and group shows, accepts commissions, and teaches workshops. Paul and his wife recently moved into a newly renovated church north of Peterborough, which now serves as both home and studio.
This visit was an inspiring reminder for our students that creativity thrives at the intersection of curiosity, observation, and bold experimentation.
