Spring Concert Showcases Depth and Diversity of Musical Talent at LCS

Lakefield College School’s performing arts community came together on Monday, April 27 for our annual Spring Concert, an inspiring showcase of music, collaboration, and student creativity.

A total of 70 student musicians and singers took the stage throughout the evening, presenting 14 distinct performances that highlighted the breadth of musical experience at LCS. From large ensembles to intimate solo and small group works, the concert offered audiences a dynamic journey through a wide range of styles and repertoire.

The evening featured performances from all five core ensembles: Concert Band, Jazz Band, String Ensemble, Lorelei Consort Choir, and Rock Choir. Each group brought its own character and energy to the stage, whether through the powerful harmonies of the Rock Choir, the smooth rhythms of the Jazz Band, the expressive artistry of the String Ensemble, the moving choral selections of the Lorelei Consort, or the full sound and dynamic range of the Concert Band.

Audience members were also treated to a series of standout solo and chamber performances, including works such as Chopin’s Nocturne in C# Minor, Bach’s Concerto in D Minor for Two Violins, and Radiohead’s Karma Police, alongside contemporary and classical selections that spanned genres and generations.

The LAKeffect Jazz Ensemble brought energy and style with pieces including Cold Duck Time and Autumn Leaves, while the String Ensemble delivered cinematic and engaging performances such as Pirates of the Caribbean and Wedding March. The Rock Choir closed the evening with an emotional and powerful set featuring Fix You by Coldplay and a mashup of I Will Wait and Home.

From start to finish, the concert reflected the dedication, collaboration, and passion of student musicians across all grades. It was a celebration not only of technical skill, but of creativity, connection, and the joy of performing together.

A memorable evening of music, and a clear reminder of the strength and spirit of the arts at LCS.
