Lakefield College School Rowing Makes Waves on the National Stage!
A huge congratulations to the Lakefield College School rowing team for an outstanding performance at the Canadian Secondary Schools Rowing Association (CSSRA) Championships this past weekend, June 6-7, 2026.
This year’s CSSRA Regatta brought together 131 schools and hundreds of athletes from across Canada and the United States at the historic Royal Canadian Henley course in St. Catharines. Competing at this level means racing against some of the top secondary school rowers in North America.
Our athletes rose to the challenge, demonstrating remarkable determination, teamwork, and skill throughout the weekend.
Highlights include:
LCS qualified three boats for the highly competitive semi-final rounds.
The Senior Women's 63kg Double of Maddie McRae ’27 and Jorja Layland ’27 finished 14th overall.
The Mixed Double of Jay Fruchet ’26 and Skye Harris-Stoertz ’26 delivered a strong performance, placing 11th overall.
The Novice Women’s Coxed Quad of Olivia Cochrane ’29, Jorja Layland ’27, Molly Dunkin ’28, Charlotte Griffin ’29, and Maddie McRae ’27 powered through the heats and semi-finals to earn a spot in the Sunday final, ultimately finishing an incredible 4th in Canada.
From early morning practices and countless hours of training throughout the winter and spring, to competing on one of the country's biggest scholastic rowing stages, this team's dedication and hard work were on full display.
We are incredibly proud of our rowers for representing Lakefield College School with excellence, perseverance, and sportsmanship. Congratulations on an exceptional season and a remarkable showing at CSSRA!
