Ambassador of Spain to Canada and IE University Provost Visit Lakefield College School
This morning, Lakefield College School was honoured to host His Excellency Alfredo Martínez Serrano, Ambassador of Spain to Canada, for a meaningful celebration of our enduring connection with Spain.
During the visit, the Ambassador presented a remarkable gift to the school: a portrait of His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain, Class of 1985, painted by renowned artist Martín García Cros. Originally unveiled in Madrid at the Spring 2024 Foundation Trustees’ meeting, in the presence of the King himself, the portrait now finds its home at LCS.

The event also featured a compelling talk by Dr. Manuel Muñiz, Provost of IE University and a leading expert on international relations and educational innovation. His insights into today’s shifting global landscape offered students and staff a thought-provoking perspective on the role of economics, diplomacy and education in shaping the future.
We are deeply grateful to His Excellency and Dr. Muñiz for their generous visit and inspiring contributions—a powerful reminder of Lakefield’s global spirit and the connections that unite us.

Lakefield College School is a private, coeducational boarding and day school for students in grades 9 through 12, located in Lakefield, Ontario, Canada.
