Fall Fair/Home to The Grove 2019 Highlights

On Saturday, September 28, 2019, we welcomed hundreds of visitors to campus to celebrate our annual Fall Fair/Home to the Grove Reunion Weekend! While the weather was unfortunately worse than forecasted, in true ‘Outdoors Everyday’ fashion we didn’t let it spoil the fun!

Fall Fair is an all-community event designed to celebrate the best of the season, and this year we highlighted some of the co-curricular programs currently taking place this term. Visitors were encouraged to observe or participate in:
  • Waterfront activities such as sailing, paddleboarding and canoeing;
  • Open Studio in the Art Room;
  • A Yoga and Mindfulness Class;
  • Open Rehearsal of Chicago, our fall musical;
  • A Honey Production demonstration;
  • Rock climbing;
  • Musical performances; and
  • Sampling treats prepared by our Culinary Arts students!
Cheering on our athletes is always a big part of Fall Fair, and this year’s schedule allowed us to host 7 home games. Devoted fans braved the rain to support our Field Hockey and Soccer teams, while those preferring a dry experience cheered on Basketball and Volleyball in the McEwen Gymnasium.

A highlight was the amazing Bake Sale, Gift Basket Auction, & Raffle generously coordinated by the Grove Society – not to mention the exciting and entertaining Kids Zone! Thank you to the many Grove Society volunteers and donors who played a role in enhancing our special day.

Fall Fair is just one piece of a busy Home to the Grove Reunion weekend, comprised of alumni events from Friday through to Sunday. Friday night, alumni arriving in the area early gathered in Peterborough to kick the weekend off with a casual reception; on Saturday evening, alumni celebrating anniversary reunions (graduating classes ending in ‘4 and ‘9) had the opportunity to share in a chapel service, cocktail reception and dinner, and relished the opportunity to spend time with classmates and former teachers; and on Sunday, many took in brunch at the school, or hit the links at Wildfire Golf Club for the Andy Harris Cup: LCS Golf Tournament.

An event like this is only possible due to the support of many. Thanks to all of the staff, faculty, and volunteers who helped make it a great success!
