Supporting and Engaging Students in Hybrid Learning

Today our faculty went deeper in their professional learning about how to best support and engage our students in meaningful hybrid learning experiences. Led by Eric Hudson, Director of Learning and Design for Global Online Academy, the Lakefield faculty learned more about best practices and developing research in the field of hybrid teaching, and applied this learning to their specific class planning at LCS.

As we adapt to unique constraints this year, we want to ensure that we are designing a learning experience that maximizes flexibility and adaptability for our students. Hybrid learning combines in-person and online learning to serve students who do not share the same location. Digital tools allow us to create one learning experience to serve three audiences: in person, synchronous online and asynchronous online. Students will be provided with the same foundation no matter how they are coming into class, with access to the same high-quality instruction and content, the opportunity to speak and be listened to and to feel connected to our teachers and their peers.

LCS faculty are working hard to leverage tech tools and strategically design their classes to create the best possible learning environment for our students. We are taking the challenges presented this year to create an opportunity to learn, grow and ensure all students continue to enjoy an authentic Lakefield experience.
