Lakefield College School to Host the 2021 OFSAA Cross Country Running Championship

On Saturday, November 6, LCS will welcome athletes to its campus from across Ontario for the 2021 OFSAA Cross Country Running Championship.

LCS Cross-Country Coach Todd Harris shared his excitement about the upcoming event. “One of the goals of our 3-year LCS Trail Rejuvenation Project has been to create racecourses that motivate and engage runners. We have had a unique opportunity to design trails that specifically cater to cross-country running, and while we have seen a big jump in student and staff running, we also hope to provide opportunities for others in the running community.”

Our trail network, which was carefully designed to suit several sports, including cross-country running, features widened paths to allow passing space, varying terrain and surfaces, groomed pathways, and more.

OFSAA Cross Country is one of the biggest athletic championships in the province, second only to OFSAA Track and Field. We are thrilled to serve as the host for this event and provide students with the opportunity to race on our course.

“Our plan has always been to one day host the OFSAA Cross Country Championship, and the pandemic has given us this unique opportunity to act now and invite the best to LCS,” said Harris.

With all of our Safety First protocols securely in place, we look forward to welcoming the student runners who will compete for the chance to be victorious in their division.
