OFSAA Cross Country 2021

On Saturday, November 6, 2021, Lakefield College School welcomed over 1100 students from over 200 Ontario schools to compete in the 2021 OFSAA Cross Country Running Championships. Starting at 9 o’clock, students raced the four-, five-, and six-kilometre courses on our newly rejuvenated network of trails. Though crisp and cool, the sun shone down all day, providing athletes with ideal racing conditions.

The LCS community was abuzz, eager to cheer on the 10 runners from our very own XC team who qualified for the event. Congratulations to Jana '25, Ali '24, Gabriel '25, Richard '24, Nate '24, Auston '25, Alistair '24, Clea '22, Evan '23, and Thomas '22 for their dedication and commitment to training, which led to their ongoing success in races leading up to OFSAA. This momentous day was made even more special as our Junior Boys Cross Country team qualified for the race - the first LCS team to qualify for OFSAA in over 20 years!

We would also like to issue a warm congratulations to all athletes who competed in the 2021 OFSAA Cross Country Running Championship. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to host this event and welcome so many talented athletes to our campus.

We would like to acknowledge and express our sincere gratitude for the individuals and organizations who made today’s event possible. Thank you to Peterborough Public Health for their ongoing support and guidance to ensure all of our visitors and community members were able to participate in this event safely.

Thank you to all of the volunteers - including LCS's students and staff, CISAA, CISAA schools, our local COSSA school friends, and the Association Convenors for Cross Country Running - who made today’s event possible. We are grateful for your time and support. Thank you also to Nike, the official sponsor of the OFSAA Cross Country Championship, for making this event such a success.

And thank you, of course, to the audience who tuned in at home to cheer on this skillful group of athletes.

We look forward to hosting our second OFSAA event of the 2021/22 school year in February. Keep an eye out for more information about the 2022 OFSAA Nordic Skiing Championship at LCS!
