Alpine Skiing

The Alpine team travelled to Caledon on Wednesday, February 8, 2023. In this final regular season race the team had some excellent personal results! In the School-Trained Female category, Paula ’24 placed 8th and Regina ’25 placed 15th! In the School-Trained Male category, Linus ’24 placed 7th, Hugh ’23 12th, and Justin ’24 20th.

In the Open Male category, Nate ’24 placed 9th and Liam ’24 placed 18th.

But the story of the day was in the Open Female Category. The Girls unseeded Trinity College School from their tie in second place to claim the title of 2nd and will represent the CISAA at OFSAA with Bishops Strachan School (BSS)! Ophelie ’25 finished in 6th after the first run; she had a challenging second run and, unfortunately, was unable to finish. However, Lauren ’26 placed 7th, Mya ’23 9th, Avery ’24 12th, and Fiona ’26 21st! Way to go, everyone!

Alpine Skiing, CISAA Championships

The Alpine team wrapped up their season with the CISAA Championship race on Wednesday, February 15. It was a balmy day and the rain held off, treating the athletes to soft but excellent ski conditions. Mansfield held its snow well and the team was able to put on a great race.

There were lots of great individual efforts and struggles, but the story of the day was the Open Trained Female team! Coming into the event in second behind BSS, the girls remained in second and won silver. However, it is important to note that BSS who was in first was eliminated. The girls placed second to TCS on this day, forcing a tie for first place. However, given that TCS beat us on February 15, they became the overall winners!

Overall Results
  • Paula ’24 placed 15th overall in the School-Trained Female category
  • Hugh ’23 placed 16th overall in the School-Trained Male category
  • Mya ’23 placed 4th, Ophélie ’25 8th, Fiona ’26 9th, and Avery ’24 13th in the Open Female category
  • Nate ’25 12th and Charlie ’23 13th in the Open Male Category
  • Lauren ’26 placed 3rd in the Championship Race
The team of Mya ’23, Lauren ’26, Ophèlie ’25, Avery ’24, and Fiona ’26 will be in action again at OFSAA at Osler Bluff in Collingwood. OFSAA Alpine takes place on February 27 and 28, 2023. Good luck, girls!

Snowboarding

Earlier this month, our snowboarders competed in the CISAA finals for snowboarding. The team achieved success and brought home several medals to prove it! Our Girls’ team (Alexis '25, Nicola '25, Vera '24, Suzanne '23, and Amanda '23) placed second overall! As a team, they have all qualified for OFSAA on March 1, 2023.
  • Alex ’25 placed 1st overall in Giant Slalom (GS) and Slopestyle
  • Quin ’24 placed 2nd overall in Slopestyle
  • Thomas ’26 placed 2nd overall in GS (for his division)
  • Ashwyn ’24 placed 3rd overall in GS and individually qualified for OFSAA!
Well done, snowboarders!
