An Enriching Intersession Day at LCS

This week, our students enjoyed a recess from their typical Monday schedule and embraced a day of immersive learning during a dynamic intersession program. With a focus on individual well-being, community engagement, and future aspirations, students from each grade level delved into a range of activities tailored to their unique educational journeys.

The Grade 9 cohort delved into thought-provoking discussions surrounding consent through a captivating guest speaker presentation. Additionally, they had the opportunity to explore the esteemed Duke of Edinburgh Award and participate in an engaging activity session organized by the Grade 9 Grade Representatives.

Grade 10 students expanded their ecological awareness by learning about the crucial role of pollinator insects, particularly monarch butterflies, in our ecosystem. Outfitted with this knowledge, they visited Northcote Campus to plant seeds of pollinator-friendly plants, actively contributing to the preservation of these vital species.

Looking ahead to the forthcoming 2023/24 school year, Grade 11 students planned their much-anticipated Algonquin Expedition. They also attended an informative university guidance session, providing valuable insights into higher education opportunities. To unwind, the afternoon offered a balance of relaxation and self-reflection during Grove Time and Academic WIN (What I Need) sessions.

Meanwhile, Grade 12 students engaged in preparations for their future endeavours. They undertook the College and Work Readiness Assessment, AP Calculus exam, and AP Computer Science exam. The day, however, was not solely dedicated to assessments, as they also enjoyed well-deserved moments of pause during Grove Time and Academic WIN periods.
