Dawn Liu ’26 Takes 2nd Place at Buckhorn Festival of the Arts

In the world of artistry, every brushstroke and hue has the power to convey emotions, stories, and a deep sense of creativity. Buckhorn Festival of the Arts, held in August, celebrated this essence of art, and among its talented participants was Dawn Liu ’26, whose watercolour painting captured the essence of the stained glass window in A.W. Mackenzie Chapel, earning her a well-deserved 2nd place.

“The award-winning Buckhorn Festival of the Arts has a time-honoured reputation for curating a gallery-quality fine art festival that appeals to a broad range of art enthusiasts and collectors. The Buckhorn Festival of the Arts is a weekend-long annual event that celebrates art, local cuisine, and musical talent.” (Buckhorn Festival of the Arts, 2023).

Dawn '26’s achievement stands as a testament to her dedication and skill in the medium of watercolour. Her choice to depict the stained glass window of the Chapel was a brilliant one, as it showcased her technical prowess. Through her art, Dawn captured the interplay of light and colour, transforming a static image into a vibrant and dynamic representation of a cherished place on campus.

However, Dawn was not the only talented student to shine at the festival! A host of other creative LCS students also made their mark. Thomas Wang ’24, Ella Pollitt ’24, Robin Younger ’24, Winston Wang ’24, Anna Gruodis ’24, Lelya Kembar ’24, Matthew Zhang ’25, Kiho Okazawa ’24, Snigdha Garikaparthii ’24, and Stella McAloon ’25 contributed their unique perspectives and artistic talents to the event.

Congratulations to all students who participated!
