Grade 10s Ride the Rapids and Reconnect with Nature
Earlier this month, Grade 10 Outdoor Education students embarked on an exciting and memorable journey to Wilderness Tours on the Ottawa River. As part of their White Water Paddling Unit, the trip provided students with a unique opportunity to experience the natural beauty and challenges of white water rafting firsthand.
Over the course of the trip, students hiked alongside the river, learned to navigate rapids, and developed key paddling and teamwork skills. The experience not only tested their physical abilities but also encouraged resilience, collaboration, and confidence in a dynamic outdoor environment.
Beyond the water, students embraced all aspects of camp life—staying in rustic cabins, preparing their own meals (including a favourite: pita pizzas), and gathering around the campfire each evening. With phones set aside, the group fully immersed themselves in nature, strengthened friendships, and created lasting memories under the stars.
The adventure was more than just an outdoor excursion—it brought the curriculum to life in a meaningful way. Through experiential learning, students were able to connect classroom concepts with real-world experiences, all while enjoying the benefits of unplugging, exploring, and bonding in the great outdoors.
