LCS Students Shine in Global Capstone Showcase

Lakefield College School is proud to celebrate two of its students, Yeji ’27 and JC ’26, whose Semester 1 Global Capstone projects have been selected for inclusion in the 2025–2026 Global Capstone Showcase. Out of more than 1,500 submissions this semester, only 64 projects were chosen as exemplary, placing these LCS students among an elite group recognized for outstanding work.

Yeji’s project explored how media portrayals shape public understanding of psychological conditions and how accurate scientific knowledge can reduce stigma. Through a detailed analysis of two films, Yeji highlighted the contrast between cinematic representations and evidence-based explanations of personality disorders. Her work, praised by GOA teacher Megan White, demonstrates a deep understanding of brain function and neurodiverse behaviors, while maintaining empathy and respect for those affected. Yeji’s project encourages audiences to “see past the screen,” fostering greater awareness and compassion around mental health.

JC’s project took on an architectural challenge in Tulum, Mexico, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Guidelines. Beginning with a broad analysis of the Cancun coastline, JC designed the Entre el Coral y el Concreto Aquarium, a project thoughtfully tailored to serve both the local community and visiting tourists. GOA teacher Ken Schwartz commended JC’s attention to detail, strong research, and vibrant illustrations, noting how he used AI to elevate the project to new heights. JC’s work demonstrates both creativity and practical problem-solving in sustainable architecture.

The Global Capstone Showcase offers students an opportunity to share their innovative and impactful work on a global stage. Both Yeji and JC exemplify the curiosity, creativity, and commitment to meaningful change that Lakefield College School nurtures in its students.
