Grovechella Lights Up the New Dining Hall with Music, Dance, and Energy
Written by Audrey Gu ’27
On April 10, 2026, Lakefield transformed its brand-new dining hall into a buzzing festival ground for Grovechella, one of the most anticipated events on the school calendar. The event marked a major milestone: it was the first Grovechella held in the school's brand-new dining hall. With high ceilings and open space, the new venue provided the perfect atmosphere for a night filled with Cali-vibe and live performances.
A Culminating Task for Grade 12 Arts Students
Grovechella is more than just a school concert, it is a culminating task for Lakefield’s Grade 12 music and dance classes. Students from both classes practiced and collaborated for weeks to plan every aspect of the performance and the event itself. From stage layout and sound coordination to scheduling and full support towards each other, the students took full ownership of the project.
Memorable Moments and Highlights
The event featured a total of 12 performances, including:
Choreographed dance pieces performed by the Grade 10, 11, and 12 dance classes, bringing hip-hop and K-pop spirits that filled the night with energy.
Live bands form Grade covering popular songs and performing original pieces
Choir performances that filled the new location with rich harmonies.
A special surprise brought by students visiting from Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School in Australia by showcasing their original piece, ended smoothly as the audience erupted in cheers.
Snacks, Drinks, and Summer Vibes
No music festival is complete without some drinks and snacks, and Grovechella delivered. Throughout the event, students and staff enjoyed vanilla ice cream and pops, adding to the relaxed atmosphere.
With the success of this year's Grovechella and the new dining hall as a new venue, students and staff are already looking forward to next year. Grovechella 2026 has set the bar high and given our school a new tradition to look forward to every spring.
