LCS Students Shine at Provincial Music Festival

Fourteen student musicians from Lakefield College School took part in the annual Conference of Independent Schools Music Festival (CISMF), held April 16–18 at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto.

Bringing together more than 1,600 students from independent schools across Ontario, CISMF is one of the province’s premier collaborative music experiences. Participants are selected through a combination of school nominations and competitive auditions, then spend several days in rehearsals working alongside peers and guest conductors to prepare for a culminating performance.

LCS was proudly represented across multiple ensembles, highlighting the breadth of musical talent within the school community. Students performed in Senior Jazz Band, Senior Choir, Spotlight Choir, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, and Chamber String Ensemble.

Participating students included:
  • Senior Jazz Band: Veda ’26
  • Senior Choir: Dora ’27, Harmony ’28, Jorja ’27, Humphrey ’26, Maddie ’26, Lexi ’26
  • Spotlight Choir: Ansheng ’26
  • Symphonic Band: Ryan ’29
  • Wind Ensemble: Leon ’27
  • Chamber String Ensemble: Karen ’26, Manaka ’26, Nina ’26, Jayda ’27
Throughout the festival, students engaged in intensive rehearsals, developing their musical skills while building connections with fellow performers from across the province. The experience culminated in a series of performances in one of Canada’s most renowned concert venues.

The school extends its thanks to Ms. Young, Mr. Van Oostveeen, and Kemi for their guidance and support in preparing students for this exceptional opportunity.
