Throwback Tunes & Bubble Tea: Inside Lakefield’s First Y2Karaoke

Over three evenings last week, LCS hosted its first-ever Y2Karaoke events, featuring make-your-own bubble tea from MILK + TEA and students singing karaoke favourites in the theatre lobby.

Throughout the week, the halls were filled with the sounds of 90’s hits, creating a vibrant atmosphere of joy and belonging. Students and staff alike embraced the opportunity to connect, unwind, and celebrate together in a fun, relaxed setting.

We are grateful to Michele and Ryerson Symons P ’22, whose support established the Runza School Life Fund in honour of John and Janice Runza P ’17 ’20. Inspired by the Runzas’ long-standing commitment to student life as LCS staff members, the Fund makes experiences like this possible—supporting moments that foster joy, vitality, and overall well-being within our community.

Reflecting on the event, John Runza shared,
“It was wonderful to see the students and staff enjoying the bubble tea and singing their hearts out. The laughter and smiles brought joy and brightened the rainy days of last week. Thank you for bringing the joy, Symons family!”

Through this generosity, we look forward to continuing to bring meaningful, spirit-building moments like Y2Karaoke to life at LCS year after year.
