Terry Guest, former Executive Director of Round Square, and former LCS Headmaster, was honoured with the Jocelin Winthrop Young Award at the 2008 RS Conference earlier this month in Vancouver. This prestigious award was given in recognition of Terry’s “unusual and outstanding work in support of Round Square.”
Terry was joined at the conference by his wife, Susan, and their son, Tom Guest ’89 who resides in Victoria. Their other son, John Guest ’85 lives in Ontario and was unable to attend. Gerry Bird, LCS Director of International Programs, reports, “it was a proud moment for the Lakefield College School delegation to the conference, when one of our own was honoured, to a great deal of applause and appreciation.” Terry was Headmaster at Lakefield from 1970 – 1985. He retired in 2001, after serving a number of years as Headmaster of Toronto’s Bayview Glen School, and a nine-year term as Executive Director of Round Square.
Under Mr. Guest's leadership, Lakefield College School became the first Canadian school to join the Round Square, in 1979. For more information on the history and philosophy of Round Square, read the account of the LCS delegation's trip to the RS '08 Conference in Vancouver in this week's eNews.
