On Saturday February 1, LCS students Karen Sanchez, Eden Snelgrove Ribovski, Carmen Melero and Asic Chen competed in the Winter Fuflord Debate Tournament at St. Clement's School in Toronto.
The resolution was whether the Canadian Government should be responsible for tuition of all post secondary schools. This was Karen and Eden's first competition and they did exceptionally well in the Parliamentary Debate Style. Asic and Carmen are more experienced and they both were involved in fiery cross examination style debates.
All four students were nervous but stepped out of their comfort zone and proved to be natural debaters. They should be proud of themselves and I hope to see them at more tournaments this year.
