1st Boys Basketball Team Wins CAIS Division III National Championship

From November 26–29, 2025, the 1st Boys Basketball Team at Lakefield College School (LCS) took part in the CAIS Senior Boys Basketball Division III National Tournament and ended up claiming victory with an undefeated run.

Facing off against top independent school programs from across the country, the team showcased depth, discipline, and determination in every contest. Their championship win was sealed with a 63–44 victory over West Island College (Montreal) in the finals, capping off a dominant tournament performance.

Tournament Results:

  • Game 1: LCS vs. Stanstead College — 60–46 win
  • Game 2: LCS vs. St. John’s-Ravencourt — 56–35 win
  • Game 3: LCS vs. Albert College — 53–44 win
  • Semi-Final: LCS vs. Holy Trinity School — 68–37 win
  • Final: LCS vs. West Island College — 63–44 win
With three full pools of teams competing, the road to the championship was anything but easy. What makes this accomplishment even more remarkable is the timing—the team’s season had only been underway for two weeks before the national tournament tipped off.

A huge congratulations goes out to the entire team for their hard work and commitment, and special recognition to Coach Burns and Coach Wade for their leadership, preparation, and dedication in guiding the squad to a national title.

This championship run reflects not only the talent on the court, but also the resilience, teamwork, and competitive spirit that define LCS athletics. Well done, champions!
