LCS Hosts Regenerative Farming & Experiential Education Conference at Northcote

On Friday, May 9, Lakefield College School proudly hosted the CIS Ontario Experiential Educators’ Network (EEN) Conference: Regenerative Farming—Cultivating Experiential Learning at our Northcote Campus. This full-day event welcomed educators from independent schools across Ontario to explore how regenerative farming can deepen experiential learning and student engagement.

Held on our 160-acre school farm, the conference offered hands-on experiences and collaborative sessions aimed at connecting land-based education with curriculum, community-building, and sustainability. Participants selected from a variety of immersive workshops, including Bees, Barns & Belonging, Farm to Future: Growing a Regenerative School Farm, and Embedding Northcote: Curriculum Integration in Action (Grades 9–12). Each session provided tangible strategies and inspiration for integrating farm-based learning across grade levels and subject areas.

A Lunch & Learn provided a forum for educators to exchange ideas around climate curriculum, summer programming, and building partnerships. In the afternoon, role-based discussions brought together leaders in outdoor education, global programming, and sustainability to reflect on shared challenges and opportunities within their schools.

The day was a celebration of collaboration, innovation, and the power of nature-rich experiences to transform learning. We were proud to share the work happening at Northcote and to support educators across the province as they continue to reimagine what experiential education can look like in today’s world.
