This year, Lakefield College School students are taking learning beyond the classroom—literally. From the frozen lakes of Canada to the sun-soaked landscapes of South Africa, Scotland, Australia, and New Zealand, our Exchange Program is giving students the chance to grow, connect, and learn in truly global classrooms.
Already, two exchange students have arrived on campus, and one of our own is experiencing life abroad—an exciting start to a year of cultural exchange and authentic learning.
Facilitated through the Round Square School network, these exchanges foster meaningful connections across our global community, offering students far more than travel. They build independence, resilience, and a deeper understanding of the world—skills that extend far beyond textbooks and tests.
For students traveling overseas, the experience is a chance to immerse themselves in a new culture, form friendships across continents, and navigate unfamiliar environments. For incoming students at LCS, it’s an opportunity to dive into Canadian life—from celebrating Ted Pope Day and cheering on K-Rod, to learning to skate and ski in Outdoor Education classes.
Every moment, from classroom discussions to winter adventures, becomes a lesson in curiosity, empathy, and self-discovery. When our traveling students return, they bring stories, perspectives, and growth that enrich the entire LCS community.
Through these exchanges, Lakefield College School reminds us that some of the most powerful learning happens when students step outside their comfort zones—and into the world. Stay tuned to hear more about their journeys and the experiences that will shape them for years to come.
