SCAD Brings Creative Industry Insight to Ms. Morencie’s Grade 11 Art Class
On Tuesday, January 20, students in Ms. Morencie’s Grade 11 Art class had the opportunity to learn from visiting faculty from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), who joined the class for an interactive, hands-on workshop focused on visual storytelling and design thinking.
The session was led by Munkhtsetseg Nandigjav (Muunuu), Associate Chair of Animation and Motion at SCAD, alongside SCAD representative Brittni Evans. Together, they introduced students to a specialized masterclass designed to mirror postsecondary creative learning and industry practices.
During the workshop, students explored Visual Deconstruction and Style Frame Creation—a process that encourages artists to break complex objects into their most essential forms and reimagine them from a fresh perspective. Working from themes such as timekeeping, transportation, musical instruments, or communication devices, students created thumbnail sketches that emphasized strong composition, clarity, and visual impact.
The workshop emphasized experimentation, creative problem-solving, and the importance of visual structure—key skills for students interested in pursuing art, design, animation, or related fields. In addition to the group session, SCAD’s outreach programming also highlighted opportunities for one-on-one portfolio reviews and application counseling, giving students valuable insight into preparing for postsecondary studies in the creative arts.
Experiences like this reflect LCS’s commitment to connecting classroom learning with real-world expertise, helping students explore future pathways while developing confidence in their creative voices.
