LCS Students Explore Careers in Sports and Entertainment at MLSE Career Day

On Tuesday, April 7, eight LCS students attended a Sports Career Day hosted by Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment at the Scotiabank Arena.

The day featured a panel of industry professionals, including Emily Sitarz, Chris De Leon, Connor Kelly, Lauren Kilgour, Spencer Gibson, and moderator Ragan Sanders, who shared insights into their work across marketing, partnerships, public relations, and information systems within the sports industry.

Throughout the session, students explored how careers in sports and entertainment are often non-linear, with panelists highlighting the value of transferable skills and diverse experiences. Discussions also touched on the growing role of technology in the industry, alongside the importance of storytelling and maintaining the history and identity of a team. A recurring theme was the impact of their work in creating meaningful fan experiences and memorable moments for the community.

The experience concluded with attendance at a Toronto Raptors game against the Miami Heat, an exciting finale for the group, including one student experiencing their first-ever NBA game.
