TEDxLakefieldCollegeSchool returns this fall for its second year, as students continue building the event into a growing platform for sharing ideas across campus. The event will take place this October, 2026, in the Bryan Jones Theatre, featuring student and guest speakers under this year’s theme, “
The Road Not Taken.”
Inspired by Robert Frost’s poem, the theme explores choice, direction, and the many paths that shape individual journeys, particularly meaningful for students thinking about life beyond LCS.
Student Lead Susie ’27 says this year’s team began planning over the summer and has grown through sustained outreach and collaboration.
“We’ve been working on it since the summer,” she said. “At first we were a bit nervous about whether people would sign up, but after a chapel announcement and continued outreach, we were able to build a strong team. By October, we had around 20 students involved, which we’re really grateful for.”
This year’s organizing team includes 18 students working across marketing, stage production, lighting, and merchandise. The initiative is supported by faculty advisors Mr. Rollwagen and Ms. Boomgaardt, who have helped guide planning and coordination.
As the second iteration of TEDx at LCS, the team is also building on the foundation set by last year’s organizers, Titus Ngouepo ‘25 and Evelyn Chen ‘25.
“Titus and Evelyn made it easier for us by setting such a strong foundation,” Susie said. “I was also involved as a speaker during last year’s event, so stepping into this role feels like continuing that tradition. They definitely left big shoes to fill.”
This year’s program brings together both student and guest speakers. One guest speaker, Caleb from Youth Unlimited, will focus on supporting youth living in lower-income communities.
Student speakers will also explore topics such as artificial intelligence, environmental sustainability, and personal experiences navigating challenges and decision-making.
Beyond the talks themselves, Susie says the goal is for TEDx to continue growing as a lasting tradition at LCS.
“This is a student-led educational event, and we really hope people leave feeling inspired,” she said. “We want TEDx to continue as something that happens every year and becomes part of the school’s culture, where students keep sharing ideas and learning from one another.”
With excitement building, TEDxLakefieldCollegeSchool continues to offer a student-driven platform for ideas worth sharing—rooted in curiosity, collaboration, and bold communication.
