Katchewanooka Rod 2026: Winter Fun and Friendly Competition on Matthews Field
On Friday, February 6, Lakefield College School’s annual tradition, Katchewanooka Rod (K-Rod), brought the campus together for an evening of energy, teamwork, and winter fun. Teams of six students from each paper house raced across Matthews Field, with one musher leading the charge in this unique take on the Iditarod.
The rules were simple but exhilarating: each team had to cross the finish line with all members present, whether riding the sled or pulling it themselves. Cheers echoed across the field as students raced with determination and celebrated the efforts of their classmates.
The event isn’t just about competition—it’s about community. Music, laughter, and camaraderie filled the evening, culminating in a dazzling fireworks display that capped off another memorable K-Rod.
Congratulations to this year’s winners: 1st Place: Pullen 2nd Place: Sheldrake 3rd Place: Mackenzie 4th Place: Lefevre
Katchewanooka Rod continues to be a highlight of the LCS winter calendar, bringing students together, fostering teamwork, and creating lasting memories. Here’s to another year of fun, tradition, and spirited competition!
