Congratulations to the Class of 2022 on their tremendous success with post-secondary destinations! This year's class secured post-secondary placements across North America and Europe, while also receiving offers totalling over $1.4 million in scholarships and other funding!

Regatta Day 2022
This year’s Regatta Day showed our community what “Camp Lakefield” really means. Under blue skies, warm weather and a cooling breeze, our students enjoyed an afternoon of canoe races in a final attempt to earn more paper house points!

From chariot races to the greasy watermelon relay, the waterslide to the jousting, and everything in between, this year's Gladiator Day was an epic paper house battle to remember.

Lakefield College School Presents “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”
Our community felt very fortunate to enjoy the sweet and silly production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in The Bryan Jones Theatre. The show was offset by spirited dance numbers peppered throughout the show, featuring contemporary songs, such as Bye Bye Bye by the Backstreet Boys.

Home to The Grove 2022
May marked a milestone for Lakefield College School. After almost two years of being apart, we gathered to commemorate milestone reunions for classes ending in '0, '1, '2, '5, '6, and '7. As a result, over 700 community members joined us between May 27 and 29.

Grovechella
A new spirit event at LCS emerged in 2022—Grovechella! Students donned beachy attire and brought their high-spirited attitudes for an evening of music, treats, and dancing.

The LCS Global Ideas Institute Team Tackles Public Health
In the fall, a group of LCS students (Cassi ’22, Amina ’22, Jonty ’22, Francesca ’22, Tori ’22, and Olivia ’22) applied to be on the LCS Global Ideas Institute (GII) team to tackle a global issue collaboratively. In the spring, the GII team pitched their solution at the GII Virtual Symposium alongside students from across Ontario and Canada.

Lakefield College School Presents the World Film Premiere of “Goya 3 de mayo”
Head of School and Foundation Anne-Marie Kee welcomed the Ambassador of Spain to Canada, H.E. Alfredo Martínez Serrano, and Professor Adrian Shubert (doctor of history) from York University’s department of history for the world premiere screening of the short film ‘Goya 3 de mayo’ at The Bryan Jones Theatre.

LCS Hosts Its 3rd Annual Poetry Slam
LCS held its third annual Seb Jones ’13 Memorial Poetry Slam to celebrate creativity, speak about mental health, and keep Sebastian’s legacy alive.

Lakefield’s Very Own Millie Shadgett ’24 Receives a Nomination from the Canadian Folk Music Awards
Millie ’24 was nominated for the Young Performer of the Year award at the Canadian Folk Music Awards. Millie released a debut album in 2021. Its title, “Thirteen,” is a nod to the young age at which she recorded the songs (during the COVID-19 pandemic no less).

Our students celebrated Earth Day by spending time outdoors on a beautiful sunny spring day participating in environmentally-focussed intersession activities.

Our Spring Concert featured the talent of Concert Band, LAKeffect Jazz Ensemble, Rock Choir, String Ensemble, and Lorelei Consort, and individual performers.

Our community was thrilled to attend a live performance from our Musical Theatre students for the first time in almost two years! Anything Goes! was a stunning production.

K-Rod 2022
Our Katchewanooka Rod (K-Rod) took place Friday, February 25, carrying on an annual tradition of LCS’s version of the Iditarod.

Kicking off the Maple Season with Maple Taffy in the Courtyard
Mr. Hart and Ms. Greenshields kicked off maple season by making maple taffy in the courtyard for our students to enjoy.

Ted Pope Day 2022
Our students and staff travelled to Sir Sam’s in Haliburton on Sunday, February 13 and Sunday, February 27 in two sets of house groups to enjoy skiing and snowboarding in a twist on a classic LCS tradition, Ted Pope Day (this year, Ted Pope Days!).

LCS Hosts CISAA Nordic Skiing Championship
On Wednesday, February 23, LCS welcomed students from across Central Ontario for the CISAA Nordic Skiing Championships. This was our first Nordic Skiing event of 2022 and our students and staff were excited to see competitive athletes from the local area and beyond take part in this event.

The LCS School Life Class Spreads School Spirit | Winter Carnival 2022
On February 10, the entire school headed outdoors to participate in a full day of rotational activities for Winter Carnival!

Lunar New Year at LCS 2022
Our students celebrated the Lunar New Year with an Asian-themed dinner in the Dining Hall, a Kahoot Trivia challenge, and a colourful fireworks display.

Our community was delighted to welcome H.E. Alfredo Martínez Serrano, Ambassador of Spain to Canada, to The Grove on January 31, 2022, for a tour of campus and meetings with students and faculty.

Continuing the Conversation About Mental Health
Students shared their voices and gave back to the community in recognition of Bell Let's Talk Day and raising awareness about Canada's mental health.

Learning About Black History Month with Our Student-Led DEI Club
Our student-led DEI club created a resourceful guide for their peers to reference throughout the month of February (Black History Month) to learn more about Black culture and the lived experiences of Black people.

Movember 2021
Throughout the month of November, students participated in a range of activities in support of Movember, including running with the LCS Fun Run group, a Fire Truck pull, the Movember Polar Bear Dip, and a Movember Coffee House, which raised a combined total of $645 for the organization.

Students Celebrate at The Lakefield Santa Claus Parade
On a snowy Sunday, our Grade 10 students participated in the annual Lakefield Santa Claus Parade. Approximately 40 students designed, decorated, and rehearsed for the event and they braved the cold elements to sing, dance, play instruments, and spread seasonal joy to the many people who drove by.

LCS Winter 2021 Concert
Our Winter Concert featured over 60 instrumentalists and vocalists with outstanding performances to celebrate the season.

Semi-Formal December 2021
Grade 12 students worked hard to transform the McEwen Gym into a winter wonderland for Semi-Formal (our first semi-formal event since 2019!). Our student body enjoyed an evening of dancing, photos, and student-designed awards.

The Comedy About a Bank Robbery
Ms. Taylor and Ms. St. John's Page to Stage integrated Grade 10 English and Drama class performed a comedy masterpiece—"The Comedy About a Bank Robbery"—to the delight of their audience who erupted with laughter throughout the hour-long show.

Alana Kim '22 Receives the Peter Dalglish Art Award
Alana Kim ’22 was nominated as this year’s Peter Dalglish Art Award recipient for 2022. The purpose of the Peter Dalglish Art Award is to inspire, encourage and recognize artistic talent at Lakefield College School by promoting promising young artists and their future contributions to art in Canada and beyond.

Parents’ Week 2021 at Lakefield College School
In November, we welcomed LCS parents to The Grove for Parents’ Week, which consisted of a series of activities and events designed to bring our parent community together. Throughout the week, our parents joined together (virtually and in-person) for House Socials, Parent/Teacher Interviews, a Drop-In with the Head of School, our ReLaunch Dance Showcase, University Guidance Parent Information Sessions, Parent/Teacher Interviews, and a Walk & Talk with the Head of School and LCS Faculty.

ReLaunching Live Performances at The Grove
After two years of virtual and hybrid performances, the LCS Dance Company was thrilled to (safely) welcome LCS parents back to campus for “ReLaunch”—an incredible live performance showcase. The show featured stunning student choreography and a wide variety of dance genres; it was truly a night to remember.

OFSAA Cross Country 2021
On Saturday, November 6, 2021, Lakefield College School welcomed over 1100 students from over 200 Ontario schools to compete in the 2021 OFSAA Cross Country Running Championships. The LCS community was abuzz, eager to cheer on the 10 runners from our very own XC team who qualified for the event.

Remembering the Fallen Through Music and Movement
On November 10, we held our Remembrance Day ceremony, gathering as a community in a hybrid format. Students across all grades participated in the creation of a moving Remembrance Day service, a cross-curricular collaborative project, which featured Grade 10 Drama, Grade 11 Dance, the Lorelei Consort, Concert Choir, and Rock Choir.

Student Leadership in Action | LCS Co-Head Students Host a National President’s Panel for 17 Canadian Boarding Schools
On Friday, October 15, our Co-Head students, Sarah Jiang ’22 and David Crispo ’22 hosted a National President’s Panel with student council leaders from Canadian Accredited Independent Schools (CAIS) across Canada.

Sunset Pontoon Boat Rides with Ms. Kee
Last fall, Head of School and Foundation Anne-Marie Kee continued her tradition of meeting with every house. Rather than meeting inside her home, Ms. Kee took students on a pontoon boat ride over the dinner hour.

At the end of October, our students participated in their second intersession day of the 2021/22 academic year! Each grade participated in different activities designed to focus on character strengths, stewardship, citizenship, and leadership.

As our students returned to campus, they took part in a fulsome opening week, jam-packed with activities and events, including Flourish Fiesta, Paper House games, a session on School Values led by our Co-Head Students and members of the Grade 12 School Life Class, food trucks, and more!
