Grade 9 Intersession—A Week of Firsts

Last week, our Grade 9 students embarked on Grade 9 Intersession, a week designed to introduce them to life at Lakefield College School (LCS) and help them begin building their community. From hands-on campus experiences to exploring the city, the week was full of “firsts” and opportunities for discovery.

Students spent time at the Northcote Campus feeding chickens, exploring trails, and engaging with the natural environment that is such an important part of LCS life. These activities encouraged teamwork and connection, giving students a first taste of what it means to be part of the LCS community.

The week also took students beyond campus into downtown Peterborough, where they discovered local highlights and explored the city that surrounds their new school home. A visit to the Canadian Canoe Museum gave them a deeper understanding of Canada’s rich heritage, adventure, and exploration—values that resonate with the LCS experience.

Through these experiences, Grade 9 Intersession provided students with a foundation for growth, learning, and friendship. By the end of the week, our newest LCS community members had begun to understand the meaning of collaboration, curiosity, and discovery—the qualities that define life at LCS.
