Sarah Douglas ’12 and Greg Douglas '08 Visit the LCS Sailing Team

By Mr. Garret Hart

This morning the LCS Sailing Team had a chance to speak with two alumni sailors. Sarah Douglas '12 gave a great talk about her road to an Olympic berth in the Laser Radial event. She has had lots of challenges along the way and was able to tell the story of winning the Gold medal at the Pan Am games last year. The medal was decided by the final race in a week-long regatta when she beat her rival from the USA on a blustery racecourse in Peru. Sarah also shared some of her training routines and fundraising work that has allowed her to pursue her dream to be the first Canadian woman to bring home an Olympic medal.

Greg Douglas '08 joined us on the call this morning. Greg will be speaking with the students later this month about his trips to the Olympics, sailing in the Laser and Finn classes. Greg will also share with us his journey from youth sailor in Barbados to sailing professionally across North America.

We truly appreciate Sarah and Greg taking time out of their schedules to speak with our LCS Sailing Team. They have both actively promoted The Grove in the wider sailing community and have helped to improve the skills of our athletes.
