Planning Safely for our Community

On Tuesday evening, members of Lakefield and the greater community were invited to a virtual public presentation to learn more about our return to school plan: Safety First: People, Place and Program. Participants tuned in to hear from a panel consisting of LCS Head of School Anne-Marie Kee, Mayor of Selwyn Township Andy Mitchell, Assistant Head: School Life John Runza, Assistant Head: Enrollment Dave Darby, Bruce McMahon and members of the school’s Pandemic Safe School Working Group: Dr. Merilee Brown and Stephen Gray.

Anne-Marie Kee provided an overview of the school's comprehensive safety plan, highlighting preparations and developments LCS has made to promote a culture of safety while upholding the highest standard of community health and wellbeing. The presentation also covered specific topics including our dedicated on-campus COVID-19 Care Unit and nurses trained in COVID-19 Care who will provide individualized attention to students and staff where necessary. Community members were able to voice their questions through a Q&A session with panelists where we further discussed, on-site screening and testing, masking and physical distancing measures, and protocols for quarantining, monitoring and support for our international students.

Our safety plan is not only a commitment to our students, staff and families but, to our community at large. We thank everyone for attending and taking the time to learn more.
