Wellness Wednesdays: 2020 Terry Fox Run

On Wednesday, September 23 as part of Wellness Wednesday, the whole school came together to run and walk in honour of Canadian hero Terry Fox. Each year, schools across Canada run and walk to continue Terry Fox's Legacy of Hope.

The annual event raises awareness and money for the Canadian Cancer Society, an organization dear to Terry as he was diagnosed with bone cancer last the age of 18. His message of strength and perseverance was channeled on Wednesday as students completed as many laps as possible around campus over a set time period. By the end of the event, over 550 laps were completed either through the woods or around our track!

Students wore their Paper House colours and laps completed were tallied to determine the Paper House winner:
  • 1st: Pullen with 159 laps
  • 2nd: Lefevre with 146 laps
  • 3rd: Mackenzie with 139 laps
  • 4th: Sheldrake with 112 laps

As a school, we have raised over $800 and hope to raise a little more. If you would like to donate to Lakefield College School’s Terry Fox campaign, please visit this link.

A huge congratulations to everyone who participated and for remembering Terry's words of making the impossible possible.
