Learning at the Farm and in the Lab

This week, we welcomed students from two of our blended learning courses (From Seed to Table: Adventures in Eco-Farming and Grade 10 Science) to our campus to begin the in-person portion of their programs.

For the previous two weeks, both cohorts of students have been studying online, familiarizing themselves with course material and easing their way into summer learning. On Monday, they arrived at the LCS campus, ready to dive into hands-on learning experiences with their peers and enjoy some summertime fun at our waterfront too!

In the mornings, students have been in the science lab and at our Northcote Farm, soaking up new information and putting their learning to the test. At the farm, students harvested vegetables and participated in a soil science lesson with LCS Farmer Ashley Garden. Mr. Kayembe has also been bringing Science course material to life through a range of lessons and activities.

After a morning focussed on course learning, students have been enjoying a wide variety of activities, including canoeing, swimming, climbing, soccer, beach volleyball, floor hockey, and more.

We look forward to two more weeks with this awesome group!
