Ondaatje Challenge 2023: 15km Bike Ride
This week, 23 daring students completed the second leg of the Ondaatje Challenge: a 15km bike ride in the cool, rainy weather. As Mr. Harris said, “It was a cold day for a time trial!” Athletes had to work harder than usual to warm up their muscles and gain speed to meet the Ondaatje Challenge standards.
The time standards for the Ondaatje Medal require students to finish each event within 10 percent of the average winning time from the last 10 years.
This year, the standards were:
- 15km Road Bike Female 33:29
- 15km Hybrid Bike Female 36:51
- 15km Mountain Bike Female 35:51
- 15km Road Bike Male 29:48
- 15km Hybrid Bike Male 32:22
- 15km Mountain Bike Male 33:49
