Students Rally for Men’s Health | Movember 2023

November unfolded into five meaningful weeks at Lakefield College School, each dedicated to spotlighting different themes surrounding men's health as part of the annual Movember campaign. Guided by the Seniors in Charge (SICs) of Athletics, DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion), and THRIVE, students embarked on a journey of awareness and engagement, sparking conversations and fostering community support.

The month-long movement transcended mere fundraising, fostering a spirit of unity and purpose. Throughout November, students passionately rallied behind Movember's cause, raising funds for the Movember organization. And the donations continue to pour in, reflecting the commitment of our community.

At the heart of this year's campaign was a resounding call to sustain conversations around mental and physical well-being. Recognizing the challenges often intensified during colder, darker months, Lakefield College School became a haven for open dialogues and supportive interactions, transcending the stigma often associated with discussing mental health.

Movember Events
  • The Coffee House, a standout moment, witnessed students showcasing their talents while rallying support. The harmonious blend of music, performances, and purposeful discussions not only contributed significantly to fundraising but also acted as a platform for essential conversations about mental well-being.
  • The iconic symbol of Movember—growing a mustache—became a focal point for initiating discussions. Countless staff and students took up the challenge, sporting mustaches of all shapes and sizes, using humour as a catalyst to break barriers and propel the conversation forward.
  • Lunchtime dodgeball fostered social connections.
  • The fire truck pull attracted over 60 participants, embodying unity and determination.
  • The Annual MOlar Bear Dip, attended by tens of students and numerous staff members took place on December 1. This year's edition included a special addition—a sauna courtesy of the Little Building Company, ensuring warmth for the brave participants.
  • Weekly Movember Fun Run, where accumulated staff donations added to the cause for every participant.
  • Moustache socks were sold to raise money for the Movember movement. Thanks to Stone’s Silly Socks for supplying these fun socks!
  • Compelling videos were shared throughout the month, providing diverse perspectives on the significance of Movember and its purpose.

December may mark the formal conclusion of Movember, but its impact lingers. The month-long journey has not only raised funds but also amplified understanding and support.
