Grade 10 Intersession—Challenge, Creativity, and Connection
Last week, our Grade 10 students embraced Grade 10 Intersession, a week full of challenge, creativity, and meaningful connection. Designed to push their boundaries and foster leadership, the program offered a mix of outdoor adventure, hands-on learning, and opportunities to reflect on personal growth.
Students tested their courage and teamwork at the Ganaraska Forest Centre, tackling the treetop trekking course and participating in an overnight camp experience. Back at our Northcote Campus, they rolled up their sleeves to harvest vegetables from the farm, learning about sustainable practices and the rewards of hard work.
In the LCS Chopped Challenge, students put their culinary skills to the test, creating potato latkes using potatoes they had planted as Grade 9s and harvested earlier in the day. The challenge encouraged creativity, collaboration, and quick thinking, all while connecting them to the food they grow and the work that goes into it.
Beyond campus, students deepened their understanding of leadership and community through engagement with our local partner, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, reflecting on the impact they can have on others and the kind of people they aspire to be.
Through these experiences, Grade 10 Intersession encouraged students to embrace challenge, creativity, and connection, setting the stage for a year of growth, learning, and leadership at LCS.
