LCS 1st Boys Soccer Earns Bronze at CAIS National Tournament

LCS 1st Boys Soccer returned from the 2025 CAIS National Soccer Tournament in Stanstead, Quebec, with a 3rd place finish in their division.

The tournament opened with a narrow 2–1 loss to King’s Edgehill School (Windsor, NS). Feras ’27 late 30-yard strike—arguably the goal-of-the-tournament—sparked a spirited LCS comeback effort. Game #2 against Ridley College was a tight contest, with goalkeeper Jamie ’27 making several key saves to keep LCS in the match. In the final minute, a clever pass from Hugo Kimball ’27 found Tomás ’27, who calmly finished to secure a 1–0 victory.

Game #3 saw Lakefield match up with St. John’s-Kilmarnock School. With the offence now clicking, LCS emerged 5-0 victors. Credit to goalkeeper Jamie ’27 and defenders Teddy ’27, Thomas ’26, Hayden ’27, Nate ’27, Theo ’26, and Henry ’26 for their work securing back-to-back clean sheets.

Finishing pool play tied for first, Lakefield advanced to the semifinals against Ashbury College (Ottawa, ON). Lakefield quickly found themselves down 2-0 to a strong Ashbury team. Captain Jack ’26 earned LCS a late penalty which was converted by Tomás ’27. In the dying seconds, Feras ’27 header was dramatically cleared off the line, sealing a 2–1 Ashbury win.

LCS rebounded in the bronze medal match against rivals Trinity College School, pulling away in the second half for a 3–1 victory. After five matches in three days, Coaches Stephanie Thalen and Elliott Exton praised their team’s resilience, camaraderie, and excellent representation of LCS on the national stage. Facing strong opposition, the team outscored their opponents 11–5 and showcased exceptional spirit and teamsmanship throughout the tournament.

The team also extends sincere thanks to Gary Good, their bus driver, for keeping them safe and their spirits high with his constant enthusiasm during the long journey to and from Stanstead.
